Dear FESD Families,

This week, September 21-25, 2026, our district is recognizing Digital Citizenship Week. Digital Citizenship week globally usually takes place the third week of October, but at FESD, we like to start the year off talking about responsible technology use! 📱

Our theme this year is #ThinkBeforeYouTech. Here are some ideas that will be discussed in classrooms around our district this week: 

🧠 Think : Is this information true? Could it be AI-generated?

🔒 Think : Is this safe to share?

❤️ Think : Is this kind?

📱 Think : Is this a good time to be on my device?

👣 Think : What digital footprint am I leaving?

🤖 Think : Should I use AI for this, and am I using it responsibly?

💬 Think : How might this post/text/comment affect someone else?


The Fortuna Elementary Board of Trustees adopted an Acceptable Use Policy for the student use of technology. That board policy (6163.4-E) can be found here in English:

The policy adopted by the board has been made into "kid-friendly" pledges for each school site. The pledges are attached. We encourage you to read and discuss these with your student(s).
