Pirate Day!!

Posted Date: 10/18/24 (3:21 PM)

On Friday, October 18, Toddy Thomas Middle School was thrilled to welcome author Heidi Schulz as part of the Humboldt County Author Festival. The students greeted her with a large poster signed by the Toddy students. The day was filled with creativity and fun, as the entire school participated in a "Dress like a Pirate" theme to celebrate Schulz's bestselling middle-grade novel, Hook’s Revenge. Eye patches, pirate hats, and swashbuckling outfits could be seen all over campus!

The staff hosted a pirate-themed lunch for Schulz to make the day even more special! In addition to her visit, students had the unique opportunity to attend a writers' workshop where Schulz shared her expertise on crafting stories and offered valuable tips and tricks for aspiring young writers.

The day's highlight was an engaging assembly where Heidi Schulz spoke about her journey as an author, the inspiration behind her books, and her writing process. In addition to Hook’s Revenge, Schulz is known for her charming picture book, Giraffes Ruin Everything. Students left inspired and ready to explore their own creative potential.
